Founder, LMHC, LPC
Meet Dr. Jessica Burroughs
I am the founder of Blossoming Free Mental Health Counseling PLLC, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in New York, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in New Jersey, and hold a PhD in Mental Health Counseling from Pace University.
Blossoming Free was inspired by my great-aunt Mary’s favorite saying:
“Where you plant her, she will grow.”
That philosophy continues to shape both my life and my work. I believe every person possesses the capacity for growth, healing, and resilience, especially during life’s most difficult seasons. My role is to provide a safe, supportive space where clients can reconnect with their strengths and move toward a life that feels authentic and fulfilling.
My therapeutic approach is warm, collaborative, and evidence-based, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), positive psychology, mindfulness, person-centered therapy, and holistic wellness. I strive to create an environment where clients feel genuinely heard, understood, and empowered to create meaningful, lasting change.
One of the foundations of my clinical training is play therapy, which profoundly shaped how I view the therapeutic process. While I enjoy working with children, I also carry those principles into my work with adolescents and adults by incorporating creativity, curiosity, experiential techniques, and expressive interventions that help clients process emotions, build self-awareness, and discover new perspectives. I believe healing often happens through experience, not just conversation.
I have a special passion for supporting women through life’s transitions, including anxiety, self-esteem, relationships, identity development, fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, and motherhood. I also enjoy helping adolescents and adults navigate stress, life changes, and emotional challenges while building healthier relationships with themselves and others.
Above all, my goal is for every client to leave therapy feeling more confident, resilient, and connected to the life they want to create—because no matter where life has planted you, growth is always possible.
